What is Local Trader?
Local Trader is a marketplace for finding verified local service businesses — trades, home & garden, auto, beauty, pets, events, and professional services. We check every operator's ABN (and licence where the work requires one) against government registers, show real Google reviews, and connect you direct. Think of us as the Trading Post for the 2030s — but verified and digital.
What does Local Trader cost?
Searching, comparing and requesting quotes is free for customers and plan managers. Operators get a free verified listing, with optional paid Pro features — never a per-lead fee and never a lock-in contract.
How do you verify operators?
We check every operator's ABN against the Australian Business Register and verify trade licences via state licensing bodies (QBCC in Queensland). We also pull real Google reviews — not platform-controlled reviews that can be gamed. Operators with verified credentials get a trust badge on their listing.
How is Local Trader different from hipages?
hipages charges operators $9-$200 per lead and locks them into 12-month auto-renewing contracts (the ACCC made them clean that up in 2023). Local Trader doesn't do per-lead fees or lock-ins. We show transparent pricing, real un-suppressible reviews, and government-verified credentials — not gated information behind a quote request.
